| |
| Teacher Eligibility |
| As part of our screening and application process, applicants are required to complete the TEFL Job Placement application in full. |
| |
| Applicants are required to meet the following criteria: |
| |
|
The applicant must hold a 4-year university degree (or meet the minimum requirements of the institute or school if a degree is not required). |
|
The applicant must be a native English speaker or speak English at a near-native level. |
|
The applicant must be TEFL/CELTA/TESOL certified by the date the teaching contract is signed. |
|
| |
| For scholarship applicants enrolled in TEFL Online: Certificates will be issued once a job has been secured in a scholarship location. |
| |
| TEFL Job Placement Application and Placement Process |
| 1. |
The applicant either has obtained or is currently in the process of obtaining a TEFL/CELTA/TESOL certificate. |
| 2. |
The applicant pays in full and submits both the application and the receipt of the TJP Terms and Conditions to a TJP Advisor. The applicant must indicate his/her availability date and location choice. |
| 3. |
A TJP Advisor reviews the submitted application and arranges an advising session with the applicant. Should the applicant not meet the requirements for his/her country of choice, the applicant can chose to change his/her country of choice or receive a full refund. |
| 4. |
A TJP Advisor will work with the applicant to determine the best institute or school to work at within his/her country of choice. The TJP Advisor will confirm available openings and a start date range. Should the applicant wish to change his/her country of choice or availability date, he/she must do so at least 30 days prior to the earliest possible start date. It is not possible to change one’s country of choice or availability date less than 30 days before the start date. |
| 5. |
Once an institute or school has been agreed upon, the TJP Advisor will contact the employer with the applicant’s e-portfolio. If the employer is interested in the candidate, either the TJP Advisor or the employer will arrange for an interview. This interview will be conducted either over the phone or in-person. The TJP Advisor will inform the applicant about which employers require in-person interviews when initially selecting a destination. |
| 6. |
After the initial interview, the applicant may be asked to follow up with the employer on his/her own and he/she will be asked to keep the TJP Advisor abreast of any communication regarding any progress and/or changes regarding the placement. Applicants will only receive offers from reputable employers who offer competitive local pay and benefits. |
| 7. |
TJP works together with the overseas hiring organization and applicant to finalize the details of placement. |
| 8. |
Once the placement details are confirmed, the applicant signs the teaching contract and begins teaching at the overseas location on the indicated start date. |
|
| |
| Payments |
| Applicants are required to make payments in full upon enrollment with TEFL Job Placement. A TJP Advisor can not begin working with the participant on his/her placement until payment is received. |
| |
| Scholarship Program Payments |
| Scholarships will be revoked for teachers who fail to successfully complete their teaching contract with the overseas employer. The amount of the scholarship will be charged to the credit card number collected by the TJP Advisor during initial advisement. |
| |
| If a teaching position cannot be secured in a scholarship location based on the requirements of the host country and/or host institution, the applicant can choose from the following options: |
| |
| 1. |
Apply his/her payment towards the price of job placement services in non-scholarship locations. |
| 2. |
Continue with the TEFL course and secure his/her own job placement (in this case no refund will be issued). |
| 3. |
Receive a refund for modules of the TEFL Online course that have not been completed. |
|
| Refunds |
| Any request for a refund or cancellation must be received in writing by TEFL Job Placement. The cancellation and refund policies are outlined as follows: |
| |
| TEFL Job Placement will provide a 100% refund if a job offer is not attained in three months time from your availability date or from completion of the TEFL Online course, whichever is later. |

| 3. |
You do not accept a job after receiving two offers arranged through TEFL Job Placement. |
| 4. |
You secure your own teaching position after beginning the placement process with TEFL Job Placement. |
| 5. |
You decide to postpone your placement. |
| 6. |
You resign early from the teaching position before your contract has ended. |
| 7. |
You are terminated with cause from a teaching post before your contract has ended. |
| |
|
In the case of circumstances “4” and “5,” your job placement fee may be transferred one time to a future date/location.
If, after your full application has been submitted and, if applicable, your TEFL Online certification has been satisfactorily completed, TEFL Job Placement attains two reasonable paid EFL teaching offers for you, TEFL Job Placement will deem that all of our responsibilities to you have been met in full, will retain all fees paid, and will assume no further obligation to provide job placement services to you.
If, after all reasonable efforts, TEFL Job Placement is unable to attain a paid EFL teaching offer for you, we will refund 100% of your Job Placement fee (less the cost of the TEFL Online course, if applicable). |
| |
| Relationship with Overseas Partner |
By accepting a paid TEFL assignment, you become an employee of the hiring school and/or organization, and must comply with all work rules and practices as defined by that school. While TEFL Job Placement staff will work with you to locate and evaluate paid assignments, the final decision is between you and the hiring school. All contracts and agreements entered into between you and the school or hiring organization will be considered your responsibility and not that of TEFL Job Placement. At no time during your training or job placement will you be, or will you be considered, an employee of TEFL Job Placement, or Bridge-Linguatec, Inc in the U.S.A.
The hiring overseas organization may be an employment agency that works with schools and private language institutes. These organizations may also be schools and/or private language institutes. |
| |
| Professionalism |
| All TEFL Job Placement participants are subject to the standards of reasonable, professional behavior as exemplified and required by TEFL Job Placement staff and hiring schools. Violation of these standards can lead to termination from the service and job. In these regards, the decisions of our TEFL Job Placement staff are final. You agree to abide by all restrictions, terms and conditions that may apply to your use of services provided by TEFL Job Placement. |
| |
| Laws of Host Country |
| While you are living and working in any foreign country, you are subject to all its local laws and ordinances. While TEFL Job Placement may lend informal advice or support in some fashion at our sole discretion, under no circumstance will we bear any legal or other obligation to any job placement participant who is found in violation of any local laws or ordinances. |
| |
| Travel Documents and Immunizations |
It is the responsibility of the participant to obtain all necessary documentation to work/live within the country. Additionally, the participant is responsible for obtaining all documents necessary to enter and travel to and from chosen country. You are responsible for the cost of attaining any necessary visas, background checks, and police reports, if they are not provided by the school/institute.
You will be given a Prepare-to-Go document from BridgeTEFL prior to your departure. Please contact your physician to inquire about specific vaccines needed to enter/live in chosen country. You may also refer to this website: www.cdc.gov (Center for Disease Control). |
| |
| Housing |
| If your institute or school does not provide housing in your offer package, it is your responsibility to obtain appropriate housing once in-country. TEFL Job Placement will provide you with resources to aid in your housing search. These resources include, but are not limited to, websites for local housing listings and contact information of people on the ground who can help you during your job search. |

| Liability |
| |
| Release of Liability and Assumption of Risks |
I am voluntarily participating in a job placement program, with TEFL Job Placement/Bridge Linguatec, Inc. ("BL"). I acknowledge that travel to, from and within the foreign country in which the program is located, including at my chosen school, accommodations and any in-country excursions, have inherent risks and dangers that I may be exposed to and possibly harmed by. These include, but are not limited to, personal injuries, property damage, accidents involving motor vehicles, aircraft and other forms of transportation, sickness, diseases (including food, water or insect borne diseases that are not commonly encountered in the United States), riots, political instability, crime, acts of terrorism, detention by government authorities or individuals, burglary, assault, encounters with dangerous wildlife and other hazards. I acknowledge that as a participant in the program, I may travel to remote rural areas and will lodge and eat with the residents in those areas. As such, the accommodations, food and sanitary conditions may be below, or substantially below, the standard I am accustomed to in the United States. I also acknowledge that healthcare facilities, medical supplies and medical personnel on the program may be very limited and, if available at all, may be below or substantially below U.S. standards.
I understand that BL has contracted with independent local organizations, outfitters, suppliers and vendors for the provision of certain aspects of the program, including, accommodations, food and excursions ("Vendors"), and that BL does not own or operate any of these Vendors. While BL has used its best efforts to select reliable and safe Vendors, BL is not responsible for any negligent or willful act or omission of a Vendor or other third party, and I hereby release BL from all claims arising out of, or related to, the willful or negligent acts or omissions of these Vendors.
I represent to BL that, to the best of my knowledge, I am in good mental and physical health. I am voluntarily participating in the program, with knowledge of the risks and dangers involved. I expressly accept and assume all known and unknown risks on behalf of myself.
In exchange, and in consideration for participation in the program, I hereby release BL and its employees, agents, volunteers, officers, directors and representatives (each, a "Releasee") from any and all injuries, deaths, losses, liabilities, damages, claims, actions, suits and judgments whatsoever including costs, expenses and attorney fees (collectively, "Claims") that I may have now or in the future, directly or indirectly, arising from, connected with or related to my participation in the program, including with respect to the attached medical durable power of attorney, whether caused by any Releasee or some other person or cause. I agree that I will not, at any time, directly or indirectly, on behalf of myself, my child and my heirs, commence or prosecute any action, suit or other proceeding against any Releasee arising from, connected with or related to my participation in the program. I agree to indemnify, hold harmless and defend each Releasee from and against any and all Claims whatsoever that the Releasee may suffer arising from, connected with or related to my participation in the program, whether inside or outside of the U.S.
Further, I hereby grant full permission to BL to use any photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, website images, recordings, comments I make in questionnaires or letters or any other record of the program for purposes of commercial advertising, marketing or promotional literature without the need for further consent from me. |
| |
| Insurance Requirements |
| I acknowledge that I will be automatically enrolled in TEFL Job Placement’s insurance plan which covers medical expenses, emergency medical evacuations, accidental death or dismemberment and repatriation of remains for the period that I am traveling and participating in the TJP program. I have also been fully advised and warned by BL that I should check with my current medical insurance provider to ensure that my insurance covers potential medical costs incurred outside of the U.S. If my insurance provider does not, I have been encouraged by BL to acquire and maintain supplemental health insurance. I understand that BL may, from time to time, offer health or travel insurance coverage through selected insurance providers so that I can obtain a group rate, but they are under no obligation to do so. Should I choose to select any insurance package provided outside BL, I acknowledge that I have independently verified the sufficiency of the coverage for my needs. |
