How it Works |
• The Teach & Travel Ambassador™ Concept
Ambassador host families value language acquisition and cultural exchange. They are life-long learners that invest in their own education and in that of their children. Hosting a Teach & Travel Ambassador™ is seen as an opportunity for them to learn about your culture and language. We use the term "ambassador" to convey the importance of cultural exchange as a major goal of this program. |
• Prerequisites
Participants must be 18 years or older and be native English speakers. Although knowledge of the foreign language of your host family/country and previous teaching experience is not required, it will strengthen your application. |
• Locations
Bridge-Linguatec works with its network of language schools worldwide to bring you a variety of countries, cultures and languages. We currently offer Teach & Travel Ambassador™ placements in more than 5 countries. |
• Duration
Teach & Travel Ambassador™ placements last between 1 and 3 months. Extensions may be possible depending on the visa restrictions for your nationality in your host country. Additional fees may apply for extensions. |
• Host Family profiles
Host families are from affluent and/or upper middle class families and live in private homes. Families often live in the suburbs however you will have access to good public transportation.
Throughout the program participants stay with the host family and are provided with a private room, three meals per day and a private or shared bathroom. Host families are carefully screened by our partner schools and go through a detailed application process and interview.
• Teach & Travel Ambassador Duties
Participants will teach English to the children and/or parents of the host family and will not be required to perform any domestic duties such as cooking, cleaning or babysitting. They will provide 10 to 15 hours per week of language instruction, Monday through Friday. Classes are usually given in the afternoons as an after-school activity for the children, but in summer months or when teaching adults the schedule may change. Teach & Travel Ambassadors™ will have the remaining hours and weekends free to sightsee, play sports, take Spanish classes and socialize. |
• Remuneration
Full board and accommodations are provided in exchange for the language instruction Teach & Travel Ambassadors™ provide and are therefore not paid. |
